デスクトップパソコンのHDDの換装でMSD-SATA3535-064を購入。SLCのSSDです。OS (Windows Vista）用として使っています。シーケンシャルリード・ライトともに概ねスペック通りの 100MB/sec のパフォーマンスが出ました。音もしませんし「重い」と言われるWindows Vista もサクサク動作するようになり、もうHDDには戻れないほどです。まだ値段が高いのでHDDと比較してコストパフォーマンスがいいとはいえませんが、仕事環境が改善したので満足です。

M-Tron - Mixed Chorus Example 1 (aka 8 Voice Choir)

This is the famous Mixed Choir used by the likes of Rick Wakeman (solo career and in Yes), Tony Banks (Genesis), and countless others. I couldn't resist playing my favorite Mellotron line of all time, from the middle section of "Dancing With The Moonlit Knight" (Genesis, SEBTP). I followed with a series of staid chord progressions, with a few oddballs thrown in near the end to demonstrate just how *hard* it is to strike a bum chord with this setting. The version included with the M-Tron needs a lot of EQ to coax it to life, as in its stock form it's horribly dull and uninspiring. Along with that, I've processed this demo with the usual plate reverb and hall ambiance. The one annoying bit about this sound is the attack portion, particularly the places where the high soprano scoops up to her note.
